Gourmet Gangsters - Fuggedaboutit StampWhen you’ve been in Key West for a few days, stuffin’ your face like you’re preparin’ for hibernation, there comes a time when only one thing can cure your culinary overload—a prime cut of beef that reminds you why you do this food gig in the first place. That’s where this joint comes in. Tucked away near the marina, a couple of steps from Dante’s but just far enough from the Duval chaos, sits Prime Steakhouse, the kinda place where your taste buds get the VIP treatment.

This ain’t some flash-in-the-pan tourist trap. No neon signs, no clowns flippin’ burgers. This is where the locals and those in the know come to do serious business—with their appetites. The vibe? Intimate, dimly lit, and classy without bein’ pretentious. You half expect a shady deal goin’ down in the corner while someone else is makin’ life decisions over a bone-in filet.

Appetizer Mafia

We kicked things off with the She Crab Soup, and I gotta say, this ain’t your average cup of bisque. It’s like a bisque met a New England clam chowdah at a backroom card game and decided to make somethin’ magical. Rich, creamy, loaded with crab—one spoonful and you’re in seafood heaven. If you don’t order this, you’re dead to me.

The goomah, as always, went big with a jumbo shrimp cocktail and a dozen Rhode Island oystahs. The shrimp? Cold, crisp, and ready to be dunked in cocktail sauce that hits like a one-two punch. The oystahs? Small but mighty, briny with a clean finish. None of that slimy nonsense that makes ya gag. These oystahs were the real deal, the kinda thing you slurp and then wonder why you didn’t order more.

The Steak Hit Parade

Now for the heavy hittahs. The baby gourmet gangstah decided to flex her newfound steak cred by orderin’ a filet mignon, medium. No chicken tendahs in sight, folks—this kid’s growin’ up, and honestly, I’m worried about the future finances of her boyfriend. Tender, juicy, and fork-cuttable. Proud dad moment.

The goomah went for the 16-ounce bone-in filet, cooked medium. This thing was a masterpiece—charred on the outside, juicy near the bone, and just screamin’ with flavor. She devoured it like a pro, leavin’ nothin’ but the bone behind.

Me? I went all out with the 22-ounce bone-in ribeye, medium rare. If you think steak can’t be sexy, you ain’t met this cut. Perfectly seared crust, buttery and pink inside, drippin’ with juice. It was the kinda steak that makes you question your priorities in life. If you’re the kinda jamoke who orders your steak well-done, don’t even talk to me. This ribeye was so damn good, I’d choose it over most of my relatives.

The Aftermath

By the end of it, I was so stuffed, I thought the goomah might hafta roll me back to the hotel. But you know what? No regrets. Prime Steak House delivered like a made man on a mission—clean, precise, and unforgettable.

Tag someone who needs to tackle these steaks with ya, and remembah: “We ain’t just eatin’ food; we’re deliverin’ justice on a plate.”
